In partnerships with the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Proximity is conducting research for the FCDO-funded BASIC project, which focuses on understanding how to help poor and vulnerable people cope better with crises and meet their basic needs through more effective social assistance in contexts of recurrent shocks, protracted conflict, and forced displacement. Proximity is conducting in-depth qualitative research – including through ethnographic methods – in Syria and Iraq with local governance officials, civil society actions, and social projection beneficiaries.
